Whenever you are creating a new journal entry or viewing an existing standard journal entry you may use the Change command option to make changes to individual lines within the entry.
Note: You may make changes to individual lines when adding new standard journal entries. Select Change to make changes to the standard journal entries before you update. See Step #3.
1. If changes need to be made to an existing standard journal entry, select Standard Journal Entries from the Select An Option window which displays when you first enter the Journal Entries option.
2. From the list, select the standard journal entry that needs to be changed. The standard journal entry will appear.
3. Command options in the bottom left corner of the screen. Select Change. The first line of the entry will be encircled by a dotted line indicating that changes may now be made within the line. Use the arrow buttons to move between individual lines within the standard journal entry. (You may also select Header to make changes to just the header of the entry.)
As each Standard Journal Entry line is added, the Total Debit balance and Total Credit balance for the standard journal entry will appear in the header of the Journal Entry along with a "Short" balance for the difference between the Total Debit and Total Credit.
Note: The standard journal entry must be in balance in order for any change to be saved. You will receive an error message ("UPDATE ABORTED:Credits and debits not equal!!! Space Bar to Continue") if changes to the standard journal entry cause the entry not to balance. The standard journal entry must be in balance; you must add, change, or delete a line to make the entry balance or select Exit followed by Exit without Updating (Yes) in order to continue.
4. Once you have made the necessary changes, select Update. The standard journal entry has now been modified.
Note: You may make changes to individual lines when adding new standard journal entries. Select Change to make changes to the standard journal entries before you update.
Important: Your changes will not be saved unless you select Update.
